A significant portion of the investments made from the Career Readiness focus area are distributed to Zenith Education Group (Zenith), a nonprofit provider of career and technical education with programs in the transportation industries, allied health, business and trades. Created in 2015, Zenith owns and operates the Altierus and WyoTech campuses, which are currently undergoing a series of transformations, including reducing tuition, teaching out ineffective programs and campuses, and investing in quality curriculum, among many other initiatives.
ECMC Foundation is an important partner in Zenith's efforts and has earmarked $250 million specifically to support Zenith. This establishes a fund that functions as an endowment, annually providing approximately $12 million to support transformative investments and innovations across the network of schools. Grants from the Foundation help solidify Zenith's academic and operating framework, provide additional leadership training, enhance classroom experience and add new programs in fields with in-demand jobs.
Thanks in part to a strong working relationship with the Zenith senior leadership team, ECMC Foundation is able to guide proposals, monitor progress and provide support to Zenith grantees. In addition to supporting projects launched by the central administration, each year ECMC Foundation invites all Zenith employees to submit proposals in an effort to generate innovative ideas that promote student success. Known as the Campaign for Innovation, the Foundation has allocated more than $4.5 million to support campus-specific programming since 2015.
