Dr. Handel and coauthor Eileen Strempel, the Inaugural Dean of UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, encourage colleges and universities to look beyond mandating standardized testing and pay closer attention to the substantial challenges and struggles higher education is facing, including degree completion, affordability and reputational issues.
