ECMC Foundation Donates to Hurricane Harvey Relief

The Los Angeles-based philanthropic organization announced today that it is committing $30,000 to help victims of Hurricane Harvey, which has displaced approximately 100,000 families in America's fourth largest city.
ECMC Foundation donated $10,000 to aid grantee partners in the Houston area, including OneGoal and Genesys Works. Funds will provide aid and relief to the partners' employees and associates affected by the Houston flooding. In addition, two organizations, the Houston Food Bank and the Greater Houston Community Foundation will each receive $10,000.
Funds for the Houston Food Bank will go towards providing basic needs, including food, water and supplies to those who need it the most. The Greater Houston Community Foundation's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund was set up by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to provide aid for flood victims. Both recipients were selected by Dr. Sylento Lewis, the Executive Director of the two Altierus Career College schools in Houston.
"My heart goes out to all those who were affected by Hurricane Harvey and especially my fellow Houstonians. It is my honor, as well as the faculty, staff, and students, to assist in helping to rebuild our communities. We are here to serve the community in more ways than one," said Dr. Lewis.
Altierus is a career and technical education institution that is owned and operated by Zenith Education Group (Zenith). ECMC Foundation and Zenith are both affiliates under parent company ECMC Group.
The donations made to the Houston community are a part of ECMC Foundation's continuous commitment to supporting fellow ECMC Group employees, grantee partners, and their communities.
"In this time of need, ECMC Foundation is glad to be able to contribute to relief efforts and help in any way that we can," said Peter Taylor, ECMC Foundation president.
With more than 200 employees across the Altierus campuses in Texas, many of which are impacted either directly or indirectly, ECMC Group will also contribute to relief funds. The parent company will match each $1 donated by employees at a 4-to-1 rate to help impacted colleagues' long-term recovery needs.
