ECMC Foundation Staff Delivers School Supplies, Brings Holiday Cheer to School on Wheels
December 22, 2016
For the second year in a row, ECMC Foundation staff personally delivered school supplies to School on Wheels, Inc., a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that provides academic support to K-12 homeless youth.
Supplies that students need the most—including pencil cases, dry erase markers, highlighters, binders, flash drives and other study tools—were part of the charitable donation.

"We are grateful to be the beneficiary of ECMC Foundation's donation for another year," said Denice Gonzalez-Kim, partnership and project leader at School on Wheels. "You give hope and encouragement to the thousands of children in Southern California who are without a home."
ECMC Foundation was first introduced to School on Wheels through Angela Sanchez, program analyst at ECMC Foundation. Angela has been actively involved with the organization through community events since 2008. She joined their Board this past October.
"When most people hear the word 'homeless' they don't typically think of children or families. More than a quarter of a million children under 18 experience homelessness in California alone—that's a significant population to overlook," Angela said. "In taking action to address this need, School on Wheels truly holds a special place in my heart."
Located on Skid Row with sites throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange County, School on Wheels is the only organization in Southern California dedicated exclusively to serving the educational needs of students struggling with homelessness. Learn more about School on Wheels.
