MINNEAPOLIS – Education and training entrepreneurs looking for insight into funding their startups are invited to attend a MN Cup panel discussion featuring serial entrepreneurs and experts in investing.
The event, coordinated by Educelerate North—a networking forum that promotes innovation in education—will focus on startups in the education and training sector to highlight the launch of the new "Education and Training" Division of the MN Cup.
"Innovation is the key to progress and solving today's complex issues in education and workforce training requires thinking outside the box," said Peter Taylor, president of ECMC Foundation and moderator for this event. "We at ECMC Foundation and our parent company ECMC Group are pleased to sponsor this new division, which we believe will drive transformative change in both Minnesota and across the country."
The panel will feature several education entrepreneurs and investors who will share insight and advice about raising capital:
- Don Smithmier, founder and CEO, The Big Know
- Jeff Shelstad, CEO, Reflection Sciences; co-founder and CEO, Flat World Knowledge
- Sara Russick, general partner, CAPITA3; co-founder, Gopher Angels
- Jeff Ochs, founding CEO, Venn Foundation
MN Cup connects and coaches early-stage ventures as they compete to be named the best new business idea of 2018. Minnesota businesses who choose to apply can be in any stage from idea to revenue-generating as long as their annual revenue is less than $1 million. Winners in each division receive $30,000 with a chance to win the $50,000 grand prize.
Minneapolis-based ECMC Group and ECMC Foundation are the lead sponsors for the new Education and Training Division, which supports Minnesota entrepreneurs developing innovative business ideas for curriculum, technology, or services related to education, training, workforce, professional and personal development.
